last night I got to do something pretty special. I shared my story with a crowd of people I didn’t know to help raise money for childhood cancer. other than baking, I would say that’s my next favorite thing in life to do!
as I look at this photo, and the smile on that girls face, I notice two things. one, that is a smile of a fighter; a smile of someone who has been through hell and back but came out stronger than ever; a smile of a girl who is thankful to be enjoying the ocean breeze.
the second thing I notice is the pretty white headbandsofhope headband I have on. it’s cool because today is their 9th birthday and they are 100k away from 1 million headbands donated to children with an illness. why is this special to me? because this headband represents strength and resilience to those who may fear they don’t have that when tackling their illness. when I lost my hair, placing cute headbands on my head made me feel like I fit in; made my bald head feel pretty; made me feel normal. very grateful that I get to wear one of these headbands now, and help spread hope for these children!
feeling grateful that I get to celebrate headbandsofhope 9th birthday today and show off a headband that has a lot more meaning behind it rather than just a headband ♥️
